IT’S RECITAL DAY!

It’s the big day! It’s normal to be a little nervous. Remember, it’s important to remember that it is about sharing the music you love with others. It’s ok to make mistakes during your performances, because none of us are perfect and that is life, right? There are 8 performance opportunities a year so you can do even better next time! Here are some important tips:

Arrival Time

Please arrive 10-15 minutes early since we will be seating right at the recital start time.

Black Music Sheet Covers

If your student is using sheet music - be sure to have the white pages taped to the inside of black paper (provided at the studio). If your music is inside a book and you do not plan on memorizing it, please ask your teacher to make a copy of the music and tape it in the black paper for you. This is nicer for pictures too!

Dress Code

The attire is formal/dressy. This is an important day and a fun occasion to take family pictures!

Practice

Be sure to practice your piece 2-3 times before you come to the event.

Restrooms

Unfortunately, there is only 1restroom at the recital location. Please make sure that everyone uses the restroom at home, especially performers, to avoid delays.

String Players

Please arrive 15 minutes early to tune your guitar, violin, ukulele, cello, bass etc. You MUST be able to tune your own instrument. If you are a parent of a young child, please learn how to tune your child’s instrument as our Staff will not have time to tune it for you since they will be busy running the show. Even if you already tuned your instrument at home, it is important to tune it again due to many factors. A change in temperature can make the strings expand or contract. Heat causes wood to expand, and cold causes it to contract. So if your guitar is sitting in your room-temperature living room, then in your car with the AC blasting on your ride over, then you park outside and walk into a humid waiting room - the tuning can get jostled if you have a soft case, etc. Please be sure to tune your instrument and have it ready to play so that when your name is called you can start right away.

10min check in

We will be checking in all students 10 minutes prior to start time so please be on time. We will seat the audience shortly thereafter.
